I'm Just a Kid, How Can I Help?
There are all sorts of things kids can do to help animals in need.

First they need educated about the abundance of unwanted animals and reasons for it. Parents can reach out to teachers, scout organizations, and community organizations that care for kids such as your local YMCA and Boys and Girls Club. Once they are educated and understand, they can make a difference. The following are just some of the ideas for kids to help:
-
Have attendees at a birthday party bring items needed by your local shelter or rescue.
-
Request donations instead of presents for birthdays and special occasions.
-
Start a "Pennies for Puppies" or a "Koins for Kittens" bank at home. Kids will enjoy counting and exchanging coins for dollars to donate to the animals.
-
Donate or buy items for the animals from rummage sales, money from kids' toys they have outgrown, or a lemonade stand.
-
Find patterns for DIY dog and cat toys to make and donate to the shelter.
-
Research guidelines for volunteer age requirements and get involved in dog walking, cat cuddling, or both!
Kids are the future voice for the unwanted animals in our community, the animals need them!
