The "Comfy Couch"

Sabrina was a large, mixed-breed senior dog. Surrendered to a shelter on December 20, 2011. Five days before Christmas. The story was that as she was getting older she was peeing more frequently. Her owners were getting tired of letting her out. My guess is they were getting a puppy for Christmas.

Sabrina was deaf and fortunately, she did know some hand signals. Sadly, she was placed in a kennel in isolation to be evaluated. Sabrina was going to spend Christmas in the shelter.

It didn't happen, she was placed in a foster home. Her foster parents learned she could not do stairs or jump onto the comfy couch without assistance. She cuddled up by the Christmas tree, but her favorite thing was getting lifted up to nap on the"comfy couch." She was carried up and down the steps for potty time and was so loved.

This sweet senior was adopted by her foster parents. Sadly, she passed in her sleep about four months after being dropped at the shelter on that cold December day. Thankfully, she only knew love and the joys of the "comfy couch" in her last days.

What a wonderful world it would be if all the homeless animals found forever love and the luxury of a "comfy couch."

The holidays are one of the most rewarding times to adopt, foster, donate, and be a voice for homeless animals.
