The numbers are staggering. Kittens have kittens at a rate so high that no one can save them all. Shelters and rescues are overflowing. There are so many caring, compassionate people trying to make a difference to reduce the overpopulation of cats.
There are lots of ways to help and they all matter. Donating, spaying and neutering, adopting, fostering, the list is endless.
My new passion is fostering cats and kittens. What always seemed overwhelming and actually not in my wheelhouse, has turned out to be one of the best ways to relieve stress.
These little kittens are so sweet and cute. The momma cats are loving and actually seem to know better days have arrived, almost thankful. They are super easy to care for too! I enjoy my morning coffee and The Today Show with them and read in the afternoon while they romp and play while attacking my book. In the company of my foster kittens, all of the everyday stress melts away. Drinking an occasional glass of wine and kitten cuddling is a relaxing evening ritual. It's like having your own little feline comedy routine. They are so funny and entertaining.
A couple of years ago if someone had told me how rewarding temporarily caring for these precious furry faces would be, my response would have been you've got to be "kitten" me!
There is such a great need for feline fosters. Any local rescue or shelter with a foster program will guide you. The benefits of fostering these sweet souls are pawesome!
